around the corner

TEDを聞いていて、何回か出てきたフレーズが、"around the corner"です。

 

Collins dictionary（https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.collinsdictionary.com/amp/english/around-the-corner）では、以下のように説明されてます。

 

If you say that something is around the corner, you mean that it will happen very soon. In British English, you can also say that something is round the corner.

 

Berlitzのページ（http://www.berlitz.co.jp/wm/09atwork/1210.htm）でも、

just around the corner = very soon

となってます。

 

すぐ、そこにあるんだけど、角を曲がったところだから、見えないのではっきり分からないう感覚と、時間的な感覚が一緒になっていて、素敵なフレーズです。

 

ちなみに、TEDで聞いたフレーズは、次のようなものです。

 

  • Magic is right around the corner.
  • Great leaders see around corners.

 

2つ目の文章は意味は分かりますが、Collins dictionaryやBerlitzの説明だけでは足りない感じです。

 

See around corners で調べてみると、このページ（https://forum.wordreference.com/threads/see-around-the-coners.566230/）が出ます。

名詞的な使い方ができるって訳ではなさそうですが、ちょっと先のことを見通す、と言う際にseeと組み合わせることができる、ってかんじでしょうか。

 

確かに、Great leaderには必要なことですね。
